I cannot remember a time in my life when we didn't have dogs, but it wasn't until Stan and I met in 1985 that the quest for a B & T Coonhound began. We lived in Oklahoma and Stan worked for Harold Hines who hunted Walkers almost every night. Stan was convinced he wanted a hound of his own and I was just as convinced it had to be one that I could also show, which meant it had to be a Black & Tan so the search was on.
It took 3 years to find the right dogs for us, we wanted dual registered dogs from lines that were actively hunted AND shown in conformation - something we found very hard to find but we were finally directed to Sandstone Kennels in PA.
As most people do, we learned all the things not to do with a Coonhound with our first dog "Tucker". Then we were lucky enough to get a female out of the great Ch. Traverse Hill Gypsy Woman and the rest is history. Ayla was the start of a wonderful relationship and breeding program that has produced Southchase B&T's as we know them today. I hope you enjoy our website and check back often for updates on the dogs.
