Southchase Black & Tan Coonhounds, Reg.
Dedicated to preserving  the Old Fashioned Long Eared American B&T Coonhound
WELCOME
A house  that can withstand all things first must start with a strong and solid foundation.  In 1990 our strength came in the form of a awesome female we named "Ayla" aka AKC/UKC Ch Sandstone's Spirit Of Ayla.   Ayla was regal, always the lady, a fearsome hunter  and a lover of all things small.  Her superior quality and style shines through in many of the present great dogs.
A Brief History
I cannot remember a time in my life when we didn't have dogs, but it wasn't until Stan and I met in 1985 that the quest for a B & T Coonhound began.  We lived in Oklahoma and Stan worked for Harold Hines who hunted Walkers almost every night.  Stan was convinced he wanted a hound of his own  and I was just as convinced it had to be one that I could also show, which meant it had to be a Black & Tan so the search was on.
It took 3 years to find the right dogs for us, we wanted dual registered dogs from lines that were actively hunted AND shown in conformation - something we found very hard to find but we were finally directed to Sandstone Kennels in PA.
As most people do, we learned all the things not to do with a Coonhound with our first dog "Tucker".  Then we were lucky enough to get a female out of the great Ch. Traverse Hill Gypsy Woman and  the rest is history.  Ayla was the start of a wonderful relationship and breeding program that has produced Southchase B&T's as we know them today.  I hope you enjoy our website and check back often for updates on the dogs.

“The way you deal with your coonhound’s slobber can perhaps be the most telling way of how you handle your everyday problems; after all he is your best friend.”

There's a new boy in town!  Southchase's Cha-Ching King aka "Buck" has taken Southchase by storm, what a beautiful puppy Clarke and Hattie, (owned by Edith Atchley) have produced.  We are holding out great hope for this young male as he continues to impress us with his awesome structure, movement and temperament.  Buck has proven to be a nice addition here in Oklahoma and we feel confident about the fun we will be having with him and Sybil.  Our site is going to be under a major re-construction with the addition of a performance/working link amoung other updates. Please be patient, I think it will be well worth the wait. Until later friends, stay cool and safe this summer.
Congratulations to Rayann Reynolds for finishing Stevie this past weekend - Good Job!!
Please take a minute and check out the adoption page.  We have a couple of retired females for placement and one for sell. We had the pleasure of helping a sweet boy in trouble and his picture and story is there.  NOTE**** YEPEE!!  Adoption pending for Gibs to an awesome home
